Ever tried threading the roof light wires AFTER fitting the T-bar ?

I'm not surprised. Nightmare. Overcome eventually with the usual mix of no bad temper (very good for me) and endless patience - very satisfying in the end !

Oh yes - IIRC something like 6 hours work Bent coat hangers came to the rescue in the end.

An electricians mouse might have helped. These days I think they are made of a stiffish plastic. Basically you push the mouse through, tape the wire to it and then pull it and the wire back through.

Stiff Plastic hydraulic or air line piping from a commercial vehicle that has about a 6 or 8mm inside dia. poke the tube through the gap, grommet or whatever then push the wires in to the tube tape it off then pull it back. By cutting the tube off at an angle it helps to make its way through the bulkhead grommets etc. works really well.

Old speedo cable is good for cable pulling.

Not an issue on a Mk1 but I ran some wires (just in case) before re-padding and covering the T Bar - off the car. Why not take it off? On the same subject - anyone got any photos of how the vinyl is trimmed at the ends? My new cover from Aldridge has lots of spare material.
