I have Zenith 175 CD-2's fitted to my Australian delivered 1977 Stag, where/how do I find what the actual model/part number on the carbs, assuming they are marked somewhere? Also, is there a stromberg equivilent? Sorry very new to the Stag, more used to fiddling with Weber, Dellorto and Solex carbs.

I think zenith and stromberg were the same company by the time the stag came into being. I have always heard the carbs referred to as zenith strombergs. I would have thought that a late car like yours should have been running 175 cd2se. I don't think this is marked on the casting anywhere though.Originally posted by indystag View PostI have Zenith 175 CD-2's fitted to my Australian delivered 1977 Stag, where/how do I find what the actual model/part number on the carbs, assuming they are marked somewhere? Hopefully one of our stromberg specialists on here will be able to give you a definitive answer!

Hi Indystag,
Not sure where you are in Australia, but there is a guy here just outside Canberra who rebuilt my Zenith Strombergs for me a couple of years back & they work a treat now. Company name is Canberra Carburettors & he (Dave) is in Murrumbateman, NSW. My carbs are mounted on a Rover 3500 v8, which is a bit non-PC, but awfully nice to drive :-)
Drop me a PM if you'd like some more details.
Cheers Neil Henderson

Yep, as Martin says, the specific identification is on those tags however Zenith and Stromberg are one and the same thing as far as the Stag is concerned.
This site has got just about everything you could ever want to know about Zenith Strombergs, although it is specifically for TRs rather than Stags. You may find it useful: http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/techn...bsI/CarbsI.htm
You may also find the information at the bottom of this page useful: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005192

Thanks Gents,
Martin, carbs leaking from most major joints (red fuel stains and build up),so I want to ensure I get the right overhaul kit as my carbs connect into a canister part of the anti pollution gear. Also thought it might me easier to purchase a set of reconditioned Strombergs from the UK (like those advertised in SOC magazine) than ship mine them out for overhaul elsewhere in australia, (thanks for the Canberra thought Neil) however I live in Darwin which is closer to Singapore than Sydney! Plus I can simply swap new carbs for old and not have a "carbless" Stag for a few weeks.

Thanks Martin... appealing soloution (alandavis carbs) quite a bit to do elsewhere to get the 'beast' back to fine fettle especially in the drivetrain area.Originally posted by martin View PostHiya, The leaking is almost certainly one, or more, of the following, the float chamber gasket/s, float chamber O ring/s or even the needle valve/s. The carbs in the Mag, (alandavis) are the best around and a good price. No connection etc. Good luck,
Martin.
Cheers Mark (indystag)
