What makes me mad is the fact the police are not interested, earlier this year our house was ransacked 3pm saturday afternoon a neighbour heard some noise and called the police and then phoned us,the police phoned us at 7pm that evening to ask if we have a list of damage and items stolen as they came at 8pm claiming they are low on staff and there had been trouble in a pub in Staines 10miles away! apparently two drunken yobs fighting is more serious than our protecting our properties,in Elmbridge they have closed four police stations, our nearest operational station is Epsom or Staines, but they still have enough resourses for speed camera vans!!

    Rant over

To keep thieves at bay in darkest Africa, I wired up my metal windows to the mains, but soon chickened out to avoid finding a fried burgular in the morning.

We had our front window smashed by some yobs, and fortunately (or so I thought) one of em dropped his driving licence on the path outside my house. The police would not take any action against the g*t as the dropped licence only put him at the scene and didnt mean he smashed the window. When the police actually did something and found the lads at the local shopping centre, they admitted to smashing the window (but said it was an accident and wouldnt admit which one of em smashed it) the copper came back to my house and said he didnt want to get involved as his daughter went to the same school as one of the lads and they knew where she lived. He then suggested I dealt with them myself but to make sure I wore gloves. What is this country coming to?

A very long time ago (I was 18 so 1984) A CID officer told my Dad, after he was assaulted, in his own porch, by 3 employees he had fired for stealing around £30K worth of stock, that if it happened again he should use his licenced shotgun to take their knees out as that couldn't be classed as "attempted murder". I bet these days they would just arrest you for having unlocked your shotgun from it's cabinet in the first place and the villains would *still* get community service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
