What do you think of this car? (not a Stag)

The Opel sports car pictured below is now regularly parked in the same Car Park as my Stag.
I don't think it is sold in the U.K., but I could be wrong.
The label on the rear says it is a "Speedster Turbo" and it is a mid-engined car.
Don't know what cc the engine is - haven't seen the owner yet to ask him, but it is not a brand new model as the ITV (MOT) sticker on the windscreen means it is at least 4 years old.

Anyone on here know more about it?

The Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220 is a British-built mid engined, targa-topped, 2-seater sports car introduced in the summer of 2000.

Known over here as the Vauxhall VX220. Turbocharged, Lotus developed chassis, quick with good handling and not very common.....

Nice looking motor. Amazingly "off the wall" for Vauxhall

Yes VX220 built by Lotus at the Lotus factory.Badged as a VAUXHALL in the uk, and OPEL Speedster on the continent.Basically a Lotus Elise series 2 with different clams (bodywork) and GM engine with turbo or non turbo instead of the K Series/Toyota engine. The Lotus Europa that followed used the GM engine from the VX220, was therefore almost identical to the VX220 apart from the body.I think they would have sold more if sold in the uk as a Opel Speedster, bit like in the 70 and 80's, the Opel Manta was always seen in a better light than the Vauxhall cavalier coupe, or Opel Monza/Vauxhall Senator. It's all in the name!

Yes the Elise did have the k series but now the Toyota, like I said. The whole VX220 was designed and built by lotus in the same factory. They just used the GM engine and then stuck a vauxhall or Opel badge on the front!

Yet another Opel sports car parked outside our home today, but not the VX220 variant the earlier pictures were of. Definately an Opel but before I could get close it drove off - what is it?

Yep (pic below) - but not sold in the UK as far as I know - unlike the VX220 shown earlier.

Btw Vauxhall announced the 280 hp Astra VXR today - (155mph from an Astra !)

                          Cheers
