Help - Power Steering Noise (sticking belt)

    Hi

Any help appreciated - I am fairly new to Stag ownership and had the pleasure of changing the battery for the first time yesterday. Unfortun-
ately now that I've re-sited the power steering pump, when I got to turn the steering wheel the rubber pump drive belt sticks and makes an
awful racket. I've tried making adjustments to the tension of the belt by loosening the attaching bolts and moving the pump and pulley unit
slightly forward and back to no avail. I'm sure I've put the pump unit back exactly as it was before but obviously Ive met something up.

Any suggestions - the pump oil level was ok on last service though I haven't checked it since Ive changed the battery.

    Cheers chaps
    Chris

Hi Chris, there's a slight chance you've re-fitted the belt onto the wrong crank pulley, is it on the front one ? Martin.

        Hi Martin

Of the three pulleys on the crank, the belt is located onto the front smaller pulley. When I go to turn the steering wheel the pulley on the power steering
pump starts to stutter and stops turning properly...very odd !

Hiya, have you tried a different belt ? Is the PAS pump stiff to turn ? Martin.
