    Classic Le Mans july 2012

    Hi all

Has anyone booked this up yet ?
I was hoping to go to this one.Has anyone got any advice for me before i go booking anything up?
I have heard that the facilities are not up to much if you camp on site so was thinking about a local hotel/BandB.
Has anyone on here done this and can recommend somewhere?
Someone told me that the roads around the circuit can be quite busy and a bit of a nightmare if you have to travel in.
Any help/advice on any of these matters would be much appreciated.

    Andy.

I was wondering the same thing myself.

I've never been to CLM and have got the other half's permission to go in 2012.

Being a "CLM virgin" I'd prefer to go with a group or on an organised visit rather than doing my own thing.

I know the TR Register is at the early stages of arranging something, but it would be interesting to see if the SOC does.

    Regards

        Hi Guys

I would rather go with the club if they were organising something.
I also have never been to CLM.My other half has also expressed an interest in going but is not keen on camping.

I have never been before so want to go next year and have a provisional booking with www.lemansrace.com

Prices have been released this week and have gone up significantly this year, camping at their site Hunaudieres, on the inside of the track at Tertre Rouge corner is £299/head. Parade lap is £150. Grandstand £39. B&B prices are around £500/ head. I guess all the organised tour companies will be around the same price level. No doubt a better deal can be done if you know someone with accommodation.

I plan to "rough it" to save the travelling and mainly to get the atmosphere.

            John.

Flipping eck John, thats a massive increase! I went with the TSSC last year, camping was £120 per pitch! I want to go next year with my mate but I'd like to stay in a local hotel. I've tried to book the Ibis in Le mans but its fully booked. So I'll wait until one of the clubs to sell le mans tickets ect. At these prices though I may give it a miss as it sound a rip off!

Interesting that you state that, I thought so too. Perhaps it is too popular for it's own good and the Frenchies are starting to see it as a "cash cow".

Makes me wonder whether I should go to Spa or Angoloume instead?

                  Hi Jason.

The price last year with the same company was £249, so the TSSC deal looks a good one, all depends on what's included and where the camping is.

I guess the tour companies block book the local hotels knowing that they could sell the rooms several times over.

                  John.

Has anyone on here actually stayed on the campsite as i would be interested to here about what they thought about the facilities?
It looks as though staying in a hotel may be out of my budget.

Agreed, the hotels seem to be around twice the price of camping and probably more for one with availability.
I would be interested to know about camping as well. I understand that the Hunaudieres is a site unique to Travel Destinations (www.lemansrace.com) They say it is the best camp site (they would). All I want is good company, good beer, good food and good racing.

                      John.

A group of us take the old cars to the main LeMans and stay with www.speedchills.com. Just checked their site and prices aren't on there yet, but might be worth keeping an eye on. Not been to the Classic, so don't know their set up, but for the main LeMans they have a fenced site and security, which is piece of mind. Also have beer and half decent food and own shower/toilet blocks, all within the fenced area.

Ive stayed in Tetra rouge , The shower and toilet block is a well fitted out 45 foot artic trailer , and is kept clean by an attendant. It gets busy but its fine . My Mrs goes and shes cool with it. Ive been out there mechanicing for team jigsaw and stayed in the team pitches last year , Now that was a mess.

I stayed at Terte Rouge last year. Facilities were OK. Ground was rock hard and don't expect much sleep, take some ear pulgs with you!!!! Thought about Spa but it's bound to rain there!

As our ND will most likely be in Malvern, which is only about 15-20 miles away it would be nice to tak the stag to le mans again, espcially if a group of forum members go!
