Nice one - we like that i still think their policy of only insuring garaged cars is daft (with an agreed value) - but it probably works fine for most owners.

Sure you could find room in that garage of yours Andy
Nice one Dave ,so I take it your not with the club insurance after what Andy said about the garage?
Nope, The club insurance doesn't work for me. The mileage restriction is no good. 3000 miles if I remember correctly. I used it for the first year of membership but I ran out of mileage. They extended it for a further 1000 miles, but made it clear that it was a one off so I had to look elsewhere.
I am now with Peter James insurance. I got a quote from them at Stoneleigh Feb/Mar this year, but was unable to take it up then as my insurance wasn't up for renewal. I visited them again at Stoneleigh the other weekend and got pretty much the same quote again. approx £150 Unlimited mileage, Fully comp, Social and commuting use, European Breakdown cover, agreed valuation. Car lives outside, no mention was made about an imobiliser or alarm (It has got one though). All good as far as I can see. Hopefully I won't have to test it out!

I agree Andy. From a couple of brokers I have in the past had the "must be garaged after 10pm" clause. When I have asked, what happens if I am away overnight and can't garage it overnight, I have been given two responses "it won't be covered" or it would be covered" but in the latter case I have been unable to find anything in the policy that supports that claim from the broker.
I wouldn't mind it must be garaged after 10pm at your home address was the definitive clause but its always too woolly and worrying for me. I don't know what I will find when i try to insure it after the this restoration but I fear it will be just as much of a minefield.
We have both the GT6 and Stag on a joint policy with Footman James. My wife and I as named drivers, business use by my wife, unlimited mileage, GT6 ungaraged, Stag garaged when at home. No mention of anything relating to a 10pm curfew. Policy due for renewal next month so will see if anything terms have changed Bruce
I have the 'garaged at night' clause (Peter Best Insurance) but it only applies if the Stag is within a mile of my home. This is to prevent someone eyeing it up over a while and taking the opportunity. A 'must be garaged at night under all circumstances' clause wouldn't be practical, or enforeceable. How could we ever take the cars away for use on a holiday for example. The ironic side of the 'within a mile' clause is that I could drive it a few miles away to a less salubrious area of the city and leave it parked on the road overnight and it would still be covered, although there wouldn't be anything left in the morning
