I'm thinking of replacing my non original Black & Silver rear wing badges for correct Mk1 Grey ones, but I see there is actually a third option of Black & Gold? Was it only certain colours of car that had Black & Gold, or certain years only?
As far as I know Black and Gold was never fitted at the factory to either Mk1 or MK2 models, but ready to be proven wrong by the wiser members of the forum !
BTW, when I replaced the cracked repro badges on my MK1 with NOS items, I found that the MK1 repro badges were a lighter grey than the original factory items I now have fitted.
I'm as sure as can be (but ready to be proven wrong) that the black and gold were never standard, as Andy has said.
I've been watching this on the Rimmers site as I quite liked the idea of black & gold however they've only had the one side as long as I've been looking - guess you could buy two of the same and put up with all the flack for having one pointing the wrong way
i think the black and gold would look great, even better if you had a gold stripe..
as for the direction of the stag, how should it be? i bought 2 of the same on ebay years ago thinking they were the same, i got them really cheap so im not too fussed..... but which way is the correct way?
The gold badges were sold by Barratts, and any remaining stock went to Rimmers when they stopped doing stag parts. I did hear a well known member say he had some, so if he wants to sell them perhaps he will make them available. I do not think Rimmers have any left, or at least not both sides.

While we are on the subject of rear wing badges, I fitted a new set of black and silver some 3 years ago and they are starting to crack again, is this pretty common and any ideas how to stop this happening if I do get round to fitting a new set
The Stag in the photo is mine, and I've had gold badges for several years as well as 15inch wheels with 205X15X65 tyres. The badges do fade after afew years and lose their impact, luckily I bought a couple of spare sets when they got rare. I bought the wheels from Faversham Classics at the Essex National Day back in 2000 and something.

I had a slightly ulterior motive in starting this thread!
I actually spotted a set of new rear wing badges on Gumtree, and bought them only to discover they are Black & Gold. They were not described as such!
I don't think this colour scheme will suit my White Stag, so have decided to sell them on again via Ebay. I'll hopefully raise enough to buy a whole new set of Grey Mk1 rear wing badges plus a grill badge!
