    head gasket not stag related

bought a 1.4 16 valve astra for the boy 6 weeks ago with good history and service record but been drinking water for couple of weeks now with no obvious leaks so thinking head gasket failure even though no sign of oil in water, put some bars leaks in today and boy does it not like it !! oil is now a dirty brown colour with obvious emulsifying on the filler cap and water is cross contaminated, bloody great.questions are how much for a garage fix and is there any comeback on the dealer who sold it ( yes I know good luck !!)

any thoughts out there guys peter.c

Hi Peter, bad luck, after just 6 weeks I would have thought so. If they argue, mention sale of goods act, and fit for purpose. Of course it may depend on what you paid and what sort of deal it was, e.g. bought as seen and approved. Don't mention that you have done anything to it, non - petrol head is the best way. Martin.

Take it back to dealer. I had a similar problem of suspected head gasket leak on my Audi which turned out to be a faulty rad; they fixed it for me.

        Hi Peter,
there is a come back i think with this type of thing i think they have to sell the car in good condition, i think the problem you may have is proving that it was like when you bought it, i'm sure someone can give further information

sorry to hear about it though
