    Nick,

Already available. Called a 'savershim'. Made, I think, from s/steel. Tony Hart does them

I don't think the savershim gets clamped between two gaskets though.

          Mark.

                Hi, Nick.

Yes. How much tighter a low-mileage car seems than a high mileage one. Despite the fact that all suspension and steering had been refurbished in my old one. This one has fewer rattles. I also like the auto, despite my Nephew calling it a 'pipe and slippers' car and asking if my left leg iswasting awayyet! :P

Bit surprised to find the boot swilling in fuel after the first fill up due to the return line plug rotting away. I was also glad I replaced all the fuel, breatherand water hoses as a matter of course. Some of the fuel and breather hoses actually snapped as I took them off. :shock:All down to not being used much recently. Only about 700 miles between each MOT for the past 3 or 4 years. I've done 400 in the first week!

Took the opportunity to tidy up the engine bay a little whilst changing the hoses. Painted the cam covers, new insulation pad and plates, new overflow bottle, fuel filter and strap. Looksa bittidier now. Just need to sort the windscreen wiper motor. It doesn't self-park and the intermittent wipe does the screen in 3 or 4 sections, stopping for a couple of seconds at each bit. I have a spare motor which I will tackle and fit next time home, along with fitting towbar, fog lights, etc. etc.

                  hi Dave
Looks pretty tidy ,i gave mine a good proper clean up today, you really get a feel for a car when you have cleaned it a few times.

I am probably going to take my tow bar off, various reasons including cannot walk round back of car, while in my austin7 garage.

having new clutch soon, and new tyres are on order, may have wheels refurbed at the same time.

personally i think the carmine is the best colour still get a bit of a shock when i open said gargae and there is ol' yella.
