    Faulty needle valve?

Hi all. Started the car this evening with my rebuilt replacement carbs. Car started okay and I started the process of setting them up. Engine stalled at one point and it was then that I saw fuel start to come out of the overflow pipe on one carb. It only seems to be doing it with the engine off but ignition on and not whilst engine is ticking over. Am I correct in thinking it should not be doing this?! A faulty needle valve (brand new standard type)? Floats set at 17mm. Or perhaps a bit of dirt keeping the valve open? Thoughts please. Thanks. Bruce

It shouldn't do it Bruce, but not uncommom with new ones and may well sort it self out once a bit of fuel has flushed through it, mine have in the past.

      Hi Ian

Thanks for the reply. After posting my initial query this thread it started doing it with the engine running so I tapped the carb with a small hammer that appears to have done the trick.

      Regards

      Bruce
