    rear wheel camber

    hi guys.
    been a member of the s.o.c. for many years and although not been an owner for quite a while have recently ventured back and am currently getting a mk1 back on the road.have read quite a few posts about one rear wheel sticking out further from the arch than the other and the nearside seems to be the common one as mine is so not too concerned,but what is concerning me is that both rear wheels seem to lean out at the top.it has no interior in other than the drivers seat-no bumpers etc but can't see that this would make much difference.has anyone else come across this as the theme seems to be the rear wheels cambering inwards if anything due to as i understand it the rear subframe bolts going oval.
    am puzzled is it a problem or should it settle down when rebuilt and run around.

    When I bought mine, a rolling chassis and boxes of bits, it was exactly like yours, I was told it would probably be ok when it was back together, with the interior fitted and driven for a while..
    It didn't alter at all.
    After speaking to Graham at Paddocks and giving him the measurements of the rear springs , it appears I may have had Triumph 2500 estate springs fitted,which are a stronger spring.The coil section was much thicker than standard.
    I replaced them with 1" shortened standard coils and it sorted it,without any other mods.

      thanks for that steve you could be right cos it has the rover engine with 2000 front springs to lower the front end could be the rears have been messed about with too

        I found with my Mk1 that fitting the poly coil spring isolators to the top and bottom of the springs just made the ride height / camber wrong. Of course it could have been the make of the poly isolators. The car as far as I know is all original and by fitting the rubber isolators cured the problem.
