    £35k for a Zodiac anyone?

No connection blah de blah. Nice car I am sure but I could think of many others that I would spend £35k on first

Just makes you thinks the Stag is under valued, and why is it our beloved committee try to keep the values down. If they were more valuable we would not see them broken for spares and the quality of the reproduction parts could be a whole lot better. I personally think a good original Stag with history should be £20,000.00 plus.

I couldn't agree more with that. I understand the nostalgia factor that drives up the price of muscle cars, 2 door Escorts etc. but cars like the Zodiac? - I just don't see it.
were they ever fun to drive? I guess each to his own.

I can't disagree, but I didn't have the impression the committee were intent on keeping values down? We need values to go high enough to stop cars being broken for spares, high enough to make quality repro's possible, but not so high that existing club members can't afford to hang on to their cars anymore!

I actually think a good original should be £30K ish, excellent restored £20K and nice useable examples around £10K, rolling restorations around £6K and basket cases much less.

I am sure it is what many folk say but IMO it is the Stag's reputation for unreliability that have harmed their values. From most of the people I know, upon hearing I had bought an Stag with a TV8, they all seem to play a familiar old record. "I'll give it a month before it blows up, those engines never run right, it's BL etc. etc.).

A bit of a shame as they do so much so right . Years ago when I had just sold my Porker 944S2 and a modified MGB I did not envisage a Stag to drive as it does.

I tend to think its down to the amount of below average examples still around, the look good in the photos but the public dont realise it takes a lot of time and money to get them cars to a high level.Whilst there are still these cars about it enables people on a low budget to get the car of their dreams which is a good thing.

Back to the Zodiac. It will never sell for anywhere near that.

                  Very true.

                  Someone just trying their luck.

There is a great difference between asking prices and selling prices.

The car is for sale at this top end classic dealer, there is another for £25,500 if the other is toooo much

There`s some tasty motors worth looking at.

You'd have thought if a business is selling cars for this sort of money then they should at least know the correct usage of an apostrophe on their website

                        Cheers

                          Hi Julian.

Good to meet you again to the other day. You are right but I have never met a web designer yet that can spell, let alone cope with grammar.

Maybe this dealer could lift the low perceived value of Stagsj

                            Hi John,

That's devotion to the cause - on the Forum before doing a long hard day at the NEC And yes, it was good to meet up again and chat through a few reminiscences of shows etc !

I hope it goes well for you today and sorry I won't see you at the Bristol show next year although, if I were you, I wouldn't be there either !

                            All the very best

                            Julian

Tony, not sure why you think the committee are keeping values down? I think someone is doing a good pr job wih the classic motoring press and getting the car lots of coverage.

If I had a few quid to spare, i would look at this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3396159.htm or the supercharged one for bit more if I wanted to be sharpest away from the lights. You could have a nice Stag as well within that budget
