Heated Rear Window Wiring

I am in the process of fitting the hardtop for the winter.One of the electrical fittings on top of the B post is broken.Upon inspection i could not see any wiring so i took the trim off and noticed that a previouse owner has damaged the wiring.
I have a cut off black wire at the base of the B post.Can anyone tell me if this is the wire for the electrical connection on top of the B post?
It is the passenger side.

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

IIRC the drivers side connector is the 12v positive and the passenger side is the earth. Can you check the drivers side with a voltmeter? Black wires are normally earths on a Stag.

Alternatively, someone will come on here and tell you that I'm talking bo*****s

Andy, just one word of caution. I had a hell of a job getting my roof light working properly - made harder by the fact that I had the later type of interior light wiring that was never officially documented. Anyway, I had a black wire going in to the T bar, which I took to be an earth, but it transpired that it was a switched positive feed that some PO had 'repaired'.

So, I'd check for a positive feed at the top of the drivers B post and then check for earth continuity on the cut off bit of black wire at the base of your B post.

Mind you, once you get that sorted then you'll probably find that none of your HRS elements work - but you can refer to Duncan Skye's separate comprehensive posting about how to fix that
