Thanks for above. My lump is an RV8 and the manifold downpipes come down in front of the rack mounting points, effectively obscuring them.
I was thinking more of something onto the chasis leg through the lower valance opening for the front, & not much of a clue so far for the rear.

just an idea you could make an eye let weld it to a bracket and then fix it to the front bumper irons
When our Stag broke down recently I wrapped the tow rope around the front chassis cross member. It just fitted between it and the back of the steering rack. Couldn't see where else to attach it. Got home with no apparent damage.
I like the set up Drew made I was in the process of going the same way only I will make mine out of 1/4 inch plate I also may have to use longer bolts. The location of the bracket will work fine since its only needed if you break down to pull the car onto the tow truck/flatbed or pull the car to a safe place. I would not tow a car any distance today simply because the attention of other drivers. Why risk it, many years ago you could tow cars all over the place and other drivers would give you some space not I am afraid the case today.
So, why do you want towing hooks anyway ? You're not going to break down, are you?
Cheers
Julian
Hello Julian,
I have always admired Triumph's optimism. Why bother to build in towing eyes...? Neither Stags nor TRs have them.
The eyes you find e.g. on both sides in the rear of TRs were used to strap the cars to the ship decks when they were exported to the US.

Kind regards,

IIRC Towing eyes were fairly uncommon back in the 70's. I also seem to remember somebody saying that they only became commonplace after some legislation enforced it ??
