I like your Martin. Was it expensive to 'dress' and how long did they take to do it as I guess you have to send it to them and they return.

Hiya, it took about 2 weeks, they're very busy, and cost about £30. Give them a bell, they'll do exactly what you want. Martin.

I asked about a wooden auto handle some time ago.A solution I came up with...I think I saw it on a furniture restoration programme is :-

              * Rub down T handle to create a key in the plastic
              * source a suitable under colour ..Ie colour of the non grain part of your dash and spray handle.
              Now the clever bit
              * obtain access to an Oxyacetalyne set and with the Acetylene burning ONLY allow the black smoke to waft up and
onto your T handle to create a grain effect. You may also use a feather to enhance the effect.
              * Without touching the sooty grain, apply many thin coats of spray laquer to the handle letting it dry between coats

Does the trick. only if you have a dark grained dash though.

When I bought my Stag in 1994 it came with a wooden "BL" knob (mine is a BW65 Auto). I thought that was the norm but have since seen pictures that show most Autos with a T shaped handle. Mine is a simple screw on knob, and I must say it looks a lot better than the "T" shaped ones. Somebody must sell them?

And what was wrong with a Morris Minor? - wife's 1st car was the "Traveller" version at the time with a wooden frame.
She bought it to learn to drive in, and the fact that you could get a full sized pram in the back, which wouldn't go in the
Triumph Spitfire Mk4 I was then driving, as Maureen had just given birth to our first child - a daughter.
The Morris was very simple and very easy to maintain, we only sold it when the wood started to seriously rot.

I had a part-time job making wooden replacement components back in the late 70's.
