Carb oil disappearing

I've read about it somewhere but can't find the thread.
Can any one please explain cause of dashpot oil disappearing from a Stromberg carb?

Hiya Steve, at the bottom of the air valve (piston) sits a brass holder to which the needle is fitted, this holder has an "O" ring to stop the oil draining down, they go hard and square and stop working. An easy fix that needs a new "O" ring and an external star washer or sprag washer. If you need further info let us know. Cheers, Martin.

Did mine last month, posted pictures on here, make youself a alloy rod to push in were the needle is removed from, they take some moving up the tube where you pour the oil in, the ally rod can be used to push new ones down the tube on top of theaded adjustin screw for the needles which house the 'o' rings, squarely as martin said hone the tube before fitting, hope this help's
