Hi again Mellow Yellow. Re the speedo being 10mph out (shows 60 when it is really 70), I discovered this after I had driven the car home when I first bought it. I told my son -in-law who was following me round the M25 that I was going to keep it down to 60mph as the car was largely unknown. When we got home he said " I thought you were going to keep it down to 60, you were doing 70 most of the way!" Then I remembered we went through a 50mph average speed trap! OH S--T!!! Luckily we were in a queue who were all doing 50! Saved! The problem is due to the speedo off-take on the 2500 gearbox being geared for a lower ratio saloon diff, so the the off-take is going slower due to the Stag diff. I haven't attempted to cure it as I bought a Satnav with a large MPH display which I also use on my modified Herald/Vitese/Spitfire/ Bond hybrid. The speedo on that car fluctuates wildly, so the satnav cures both cars' problems. Cheaper than having your speedo recalibrated too. To be really accurate, I think it is more like 8mph or 12% slow, so don't forget to adjust your mileage when calculating your MPG!
I am now arranging for the local football team to give me a hand to lift the hard top on for the Winter!!! Late this year. Enjoy your 2500 Stag. Makes it a much more every day usable car. Best regards,
