    Lost Keys

    Hi again folks,
going up tommorrow to free off the rear brakes on my 1st stag bought 2 weeks ago (been in storage since the early 80's) so i can move it to my workshop very soon.

However the previous owner still cant find any of the keys. Boot, doors, glover box all open but ign and petrol a problem!

By any chance will anyone hold key no.s, i do know all the locks are the original's.

Wil post some photos next week, as found, would have done this earlier but got too......... excited and left my camera up there.

    Here's Hoping

Hello Sutty and welcome to Stag ownership.

You could get a Heritage certificate which gives all the original build details including key numbers. I think it is around £40 now.

Useful to have and cheaper than a lock change.

    John.

that is if it is still original and some P?O hasnt changed the locks etc as on mine........but you can remove the ignition easily and pretty much any small key manages to open the fuel caps if they are worn.

I didn't realise that the Heritage certificate gave key numbers. Just looked at mine and, of course, you are right John

The chassis no on mine is on the b pillar in the N/S door closing.

                      Hi Ian.

I saw a superb Stag at a show recently with the certificate proudly displayed. I hope the locks were not original.

Thanks for the replies, been up today and free'd all the brakes off. Now shes rolling i'll get her to my workshop in a couple of weeks.
Going back tomorrow to try and sort locks.
The 1 and only owner assures me all locks are original. So am i right to think if i take the boot lock and steering lock to a local lock-smiths And he can make them my key problems are sorted?

                          Steve

Long shot but maybe worth removing locks and looking for numbers stamped on them. Boot glovebox and petrol cap are all the same on mine FSxxx. Doors and ignition share the same key NHxxxx. Ignition key blank is not usually stocked but my local locksmith got hold of some easily.
