This from a post by Bob Heritage says it all.
Hi Kevin, Yes Richard Lane has set up in Bexhill, he is working from home, he is at 5, Mill View Road, pop in and have a chat, I have told him you might be along some time. He is working with Conan Howard who used to recondition Strombergs many years ago. He has been driving a TVR Tuscan for about 10 years now when in this country,as he has been playing with Harleys in the States, but now back to stay.
I have been talking to him about an injection kit for the Stag and he seems quite confident that he can put a fairly simple one together. He is hoping to come along to our clubnight this Wednesday for a chat, if anybody would like to pop along you will be made more than welcom.
Bob

A tuned rover 3.5 or even a 3.9 is not too big a deal (Monarch supply all the stuff for that) but if you are going to fit a big V8 (anything with much over 200 lb-ft of torque) you would be pushing your luck with a stag diff. A pair of custom headers will be expensive, plus you should uprate brakes as well. All this on top of the usual stuff like modified wiring, cooling system etc. It sounds like you are not worried too much about the cost?

I have a modified 4.6L Rover in my TR. Some would have you believe that the 3.5 unit is the best as there were some liner issues on the later model V8s but the cross bolted block and lack of the outer row of head studs on the later ones are definite improvements to my mind. The biggest issue was actually keeping it on the road and it needed several diff ratio changes before it was all settled. As others have said, it all depends on how far you wish to go with other mods to keep up with the power.

If you want 240+ bhp and 275 lb/ft torque, I know of a good RV8 3.9 that might be for sale soon..
When you go to a bigger sizes with the RV8, then beware problems with the crank and the liners. The best one is rumoured to be the 4.6 with cross bolted crank - very common and relatively easy to up-grade.
This is a good site http://www.v8developments.co.uk/
When I go for my nutter conversion its going to be a choice of 4.6 stage 3 or 4..
