    Hub Removal.

Can anyone inform me what the tools are in the haynes book, used for removing hubs?

Jack car up, remove wheel, undo brake drum (screwdriver required) then undo the 6 nuts (1/2 socket) that hold the hub flange to the traling arm. Then on to the shaft, with pliers undo the rubber gaitor that covers the spline. Then the hub will pull out from the wheel side as a complete unit. 20min job.

Be very careful on reassembly. The 6 nyloc nuts that Andrew refers to are on UNF studs into a 30-odd year old alloy casting. The studs pull out easily, so adhere to the correct torque setting. If they do strip out you can either helicoil again as UNF or you can get combination UNF/UNC studs and fit UNC helicoils in the alloy casting.

Isn't the above "driveshaft removal" rather than Hub removal with special tools?

Good point Drew, but presumed it was to get the hub off the car first

Thank you for the pointers on this subject,no wonder our 10 tonne puller failed.....my stag is completly dismantled,so while the shell is away being painted in Jaguars version of BRG,we 're tinkering with all the pieces left over,so no need to take wheel off in this case! Thanks will report back if and when progress is being made.
