Power Steering Rack

Can anybody offer advise please. I resealed my power steering rack earlier in the year. I took great care and followed the BL manual to the letter but it is leaking like mad from both ends !!

In desperation I have opened it up again and confirmed that all the seals are un-damaged, they are in the right way round (lip to pressure) the ram is not scored, worn or pitted - I just can't see anything that should cause a leak. Where I am going wrong ?

It could be that the Seal kit you used is at fault, i.e. not for that rack so the dimensions of them are slightly different. I got mine from LD Parts and fingers crossed is OK so far after 2000 + miles

I vaguely remember Peter, at LDparts, telling me something about steering racks where some play meant that the actual rack assumed a fractionally banana shape, such that it's movement through the seals was at a slight angle. This being the case, a circular seal wouldn't seal properly.

It might be worth giving him a call.
