Hi all
Just had this reply from Charles. It would seem he is doing rather well but having problems as well

We are currently 2nd overall but have major head gasket trouble. Keeping pouring water in and hope we make it! Not sure how I am going to get it home! Yes, we are car 29! On the news!!!

just had text from a pub somewhere in Scotland

Car made it! but is buggered! Recovery tomorrow. 1st in Class 2nd overall and most importantly a GOLD medal only 1 of 2. Now drinking a lot

So not a Stag but still a TRiumph.

Charles did very well - congratulations to him, and also to Tony / Richard in the TR4 who finished 3rd overall and 1st in their class too!

As a marshal on the event it was great to see Charles doing so well. The rally was particularly difficult this year, with a new person in charge of the competitive side of things. I can assure you that his result was outstanding. I only wish I had been able to photograph his car at John O'Groats with steam billowing from both ends! I will also always remember the way in which he skidded on black ice into my control near Lairg. My assistant on the stopwatch had to dive behind our transport for safety, and he missed hitting us by inches. He then had the cheek to request the time he required for the section, as opposed to the one on the stopwatch! A nice try, but he didn't get away with it! Give the man a medal. Mike.
