It would be illegal to display the plate as shown on Ebay and it could only be transferrred to a car from March 2010 or newer, as it's illegal to fit a newer number plate than the car actually is.
It ain't going to happen !
Many, many years ago, before personalised plates became popular and when it was called, quaintly, 'Retention of a Cherished Number', I did actually manage to get OOK 900G transferred on to my 1964 Mini - but only 'cos I knew the girl in the registration office and she kindly turned a blind eye !!
Cheers

Love that. Or change the name of your car to something more relevant to it's owner. Not sure I can fit 'bald fat bloke' on the back of my car though!Originally posted by KOY 23 View PostCan't see the point in spending loads on a personal plate. Much cheaper to change your name to match the car.

There are several with "ambitious" asking prices, but I think that the seller does it to keep his/her plates at the top of the page - just do a filter on price top to bottom on cherished plates and you'll see what I mean.
Later in each advert, it states that they are open to offers.
Incidentally, does anyone remember in the 70s/80s a porn star called Fiona Richmond who had the registration FU2 on her E type?

We have the only 'Green' party MP here in Brighton and they naturally hate the motorist. Parking fees now up to £1.70 per hour and set to rise plus extend the parking zone, while a small town a few miles away charge just 60p ph. Now they want to sell the number plate on the Lord Mayor's car that has been associated with Brighton for years --- CD1, they have had offers so far of £150k
