1972 Stag fitted with a British Leyland radio. 3 thick wires for speaker???

    Hi,
I have a 1972 Mk2 Stag,US model, with a British Leyland Radio fitted, but no speaker. There are three thickish wires on the LHS, going to a speaker. The speaker that I have bought to install has only 2 connectors,so where do all 3 go,2 to the speaker and one left over. ??????

hello you might find that the extra wire is for another speaker and they would both use the same neg wire

Probably a wire that once served a purpose, but the Trade Union shop stewards refused to eliminate it in the 1970's when its use became redundant.
      The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

trace the wires back to the radio and make sure you check for voltage on all 3 cables as you don't want 12v plus on the speaker
