Rear Sub-frame mounting

Browsing Chris Witors site & came across this:

might be useful if you've a box full of large washers and can't remember which went where! I'm pretty sure the Mk11 setup is identical to the Stag with the exception of the Anti-vibration strap length

I have not really figured out what that strap does. I had to undo the mounting a bit to get the diff low enough to come off and it was a right swine to get a spanner/socket on both ends at the same time. I needed a third arm, or one longer than the other.

I have not really figured out what that strap does.

I've always thought that the strap serves 2 purposes -

1) The bolt down through the large bush is long and the strap will help to stop the box sections twisting.

2) If (when!) the large bush lets go, the strap will stop the end of the subframe floating totally free. I've had it happen on a Mk1 2000 and it certainly makes for interesting driving!
