    back on road !!!

Guys - from my previous posts when the diff nose broke in two last month, I have now finished the replacement - took car for an hours run today and seemed ok (fingers crossed).
the first photo is the failure, second is the way I used the broken flange piece to tighten the main nut to quill shaft and third is the finished job (reinforced diff nose, new main bearing (RHP), new quill shaft and diff end seal (used the broken flange again to "squeeze in" the new diff end seal by bolting the flange onto the diff with seal gently sliding into the diff - better than the hammering I've done before)
    - I managed to do this job with diff left in and undoing the wishbone front mounts to the swinging arms to get the diff nose extension piece out and new one in - all ok but was very careful and it is essential to support the car well (4 axle stands and two trolley jacks !!)

I also drilled a hole in the lower section of the diff extension tube (apologies can't remember who on forum suggested this) but good idea to stop any leaking diff oil filling tube and washing out the grease in new quill bearing.

thanks again to all who sent lots of advise prior to me doing this

    Kind Regards
    Ian
