    altinator

Hi everyone ! having romoved my very odd altinator (it had missing conections on ) i ordered a new item from e bay , 45 amp i now see a another 65 amp and higher , i am happy with my running position as it took me all of ten minutes to remove and it's going to be a good weather use car but the question is do i really need a 65 amp or will the 45 do very nicely ! I dont intend putting in flat screens tvs in lol the radio might not even be on becuase i love my stag sound !
    Kind Regard edd

Mine has the standard 45 amp and it's fine, if you think about it most cars still do as well so it must do the job.

"Old school" cars like Stags have very low electrical demands compared to modern cars, and so a 45Amp alternator is perfectly viable. Fitting one with a much higher output could actually pose issues as the higher currents could overload the wiring, which after all, was designed to deal with just 45 Amps!

i uprated mine, the old one was fine but i have fitted a hardtop and cd player when i had the lights on etc the voltage did drop, it was just for security on my part though

          hope this helps

I'm with Alan, belt and braces. A 45 amp will do fine, but mine's a year round car, and the HRW and fog lamps were a struggle so I've got an 80 amp, no problems of any sort, and my wipers are up to speed straight away. As I said, nowt wrong with a 45, just my paranoia kicking in Martin.

Yep, and maybe it's because that badly fitting boot means that the boot light is permanently on Martin LOL

              Cheers

Careful he doesn't ask you to lay inside and check for him when it's shut Julian.

And a Kenlowe or similar electric fan is also power hungry.

Fitted 35 amp to mine in the summer, no problems and plenty power for what I need. But bear in mind the one that came out was 30 amp and was crap.I did'nt fit that one though
