Mm, tempting. Team it up with this, from the same supplier, and you should be prepared for anything: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MASTER-THR...item4cee66e036Dave

Can someone who knows their nuts confirm:
Inlet manifold to head is 5/16 UNC
Carb elbow to carb 5/16 UNC
Rear backplate to trailing arm 5/16 UNF (did someone mention putting a different thread stud and helicoil in this location?)
So you would need both kits to cover the most common stripped threads
Although the only one I need to do is Elbow to carb, which also secures the choke cable!Last edited by MB; 14 January 2012, 16:47.

The first 2 are correct and I believe the 3rd is, but someone else may confirm that one.

This is the number of occurrences of the different thread sizes in terms of locations
Thread sizes.jpgThe answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

However, you don't need to buy the whole kit as they do sell sets for just one size if you want.
It's usually the UNC threads into alloy that get stripped and, other than the trailing arm that you mention, I don't think there are that many UNF threads on our cars that strip (??) so you may want to save yourself a bit and buy the whole UNC set and just the 5/16 UNF one on its own.
I've managed so far (famous last words) with just a 5/16 and 3/8 UNC.
Cheers

I think I will only get the UNC kit and then I think I would only ever need the 5/16 UNC helicoils.
Drew needs to update the bolt size list to include which ones screw into alloy
If I Stripped a traling arm stud (UNF) convert to UNC and use the studs Dave mentions which conveniently come in packs of 12 (6 each side)
or UNC bolts:- http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...=Trailing+stud as the green one explains.
