    Battery charger

    Hi
Could anyone please recommend a battery charger for the Stag (and where you got it?).

    Cheers

Ctek 7000 from Hamilton Classic. Not cheap but very good. Best buy in many comparison tests.

        Hi Martin.

        Have a look at www.ctek/nu

They have a vast range of chargers. I bought a 3.6amp version but swapped it for the 7 amp as I wanted the 12v supply facility which is useful for powering a modern car whilst changing batteries, so no memory loss.

Since then I use it to power light demo unit, via a float battery. It is running flat out for 12 hours a day keeping up with the 9+ amps discharge.

I have fitted one of their adapters direct to Stag battery, so easy to plug in, the adaptor has a traffic light of 3 LEDs to show when battery needs a charge.

Not cheap but good, one of the smaller ones may be ideal for your needs. Amazon sell them.

        John.

Yes, I have got Peter's charger and very pleased with it as it keeps the battery topped up as well and so easy to use. http://www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.p...f6a777230a0474

Agree with all the comments about the CTEK. I bought the Multi XS 3600 and it works a treat. This model is man enough to charge a hefty battery and then maintain it. Some of the smaller models will maintain but not charge a low battery. Once the green light comes on you can leave it for months if you want and it keeps the battery in good condition. Ideal if you don't use the car much or have it SORNED Got mine on Ebay for £39-50.

                  Hi Phil,

Can't comment on that exact one, but I bought a similar device from Aldi for exactly the same price and boasting the same features and it's on it's second winter and it's been absolutely fine so far. At the price it has to be worth a punt!

I think that for £12.99 you can't go wrong especially as it has a 3 year warranty.

Love the video on the Lidl website, it reminds me of those Ronco adverts of the late 70s where the words don't match the actor's mouth and I also smiled at some of the terminology - "if you are a motorcycle freak"

                    Regards

                    Peter

I've one of these but bought off eBay; Lovely bit of kit. Over the winter I just leave it connected. I bought the larger 7000 model so I could charge the X3's battery and the batteries we've got in the rhibs.

Just to offer my humble (but hons graduate elec engineer) opinion - batteries like a 3 stage charger if you are going to leave it connected over long periods of time. The Cteks and the likes will do this, I am not sure the £12.99 Lidl job will. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch so they tell me, personally I would pay more for a proper bit of kit and my battery would probably love me for it. Overcharging will kill a battery as quickly as over-discharging. (possibly quicker)

I also bought the Aldi one 2-3 years ago and it works fine.

I got mine from Costco - it's a Ring Smartcharge RSC506. The first one had a fault and Costco as usual replaced it without question - that's why I go there. Replacement is excellent and is a three stage job, and charged my flat battery (after well documented starting problems) in a single overnight charge. Very pleased with it.
