Well thanks for all the possibilities you have suggested and after reading these I have check every thing over (between the rain!).
I found the OSF wheel bearing needs adjusting and the lower column bush is worn.
All of the ball joints, top strut bushes and suspension bushes were in excellent order.
The calipers are free and not sticking or rubbing.
I will take the car out in about 2 hours to test the newly adjusted wheel bearing to see what effect this has had.
What/How do I need to do the lower column bush as I have never do one of these before?
