Jake, you're missing the point Co2 doesn't only allow uv in one direction its just that it blocks long wavelengths better than shorter ones. We need this to happen to a certain extent for the planet to be habitable. Clouds have the same effect, cloudless nights are usually cold.
The question is whether the greenhouse gases created by us are significant or not. In any case it makes sense not to be wasteful or to create unneccessary pollution.
