    Stag spares costs

Hi all, I am in a position where I need to buy various spares for my Stag re build, I very often browse EBay but get the feeling that some prices seem to be quite high! Does anyone have any advice or experience as to where the best place is to buy spares, not just based on price but also quality. I am finding it very time consuming going back and forth between web sites trying to do a comparison, and I am sure many of you out there have already gone through this pain!
On the shoulders of giants and all that.

    Thanks

    Paul

Now there is a question? Lots of things, probably a list that would be too long to document, but to name a few bits, A full Clutch, Hard top lining kit, under bonnet insulation, brake pads, brake hoses and pipes, various fixings and bolts etc. My car has been off the road for 20 years and so as I go through the re build I will need to assess the state of lots of things before they go back on, and I would like to selectively buy new as and when if funds allow. Bit of a how long is a piece of string conundrum.

      Thanks

            Hello Paul

at the monent james paddock is giving 10% off all orders as there web site is out of use for the monent, on the items that they advertise in the stag mag i have found them to be cheaper than the rest off the supplyers on the parts i have been interested in.The general rule is if you want to find all parts at the cheapest price you will have to keep going back and fourth between web sites
I have found all the main part supplyers to be very helpfull and im sure if asked they would price match on a bulk order

            Happy shopping

re prices be very careful what you wish for!!!!

Because market has demanded cheaper and cheaper products there are tonnes of parts out there that are barely fit for purpose if indeed fit for purpose at all.

Buy from reputable source, many Stag experts trade via ebay (Robsport, Tony Hart, LDpart etc). I have never had any problems buying from them regards quality.

I bought my clutch set from Paddocks a few years back and am happy with it. beware though that cluch cover bolts may need shortening by a thread or 2 else they bottom out and you get mr juddery clutch.

I feel personaly, most of the well known ones will supply pretty decent stuff Rimmers, Paddocks L.D, etc etc. However it does pay to shop around between them all, as the price comparisons can vary greatly.
I used to use R.B all the time, but once I began to find out about the other suppliers and how greatly varied the prices are, I started shopping around and comparing , primarily because I saved quite a load of wonga.
To be honest I have used most of the suppliers now, and to be honest, and overall, I have had little to complain about, although I ALMOST DID!!!.

If i needed alot of parts ususally wait till there is a offer on or if you go to places like rimmers or paddocks in person with a big shopping list you can ask for discount they ususally give you somthing..

I am just starting to buy some parts , so far ej ward has been competitive ! posted really fast two rear inner wings and 3/4 repair panels all tooling fund parts ! I have had success on e bay buying a top window chrome section that looks like new for £85 , usually posted as £125. And a replacement solid total metal boot for £112 on e bay! mine was inch deep with filler ( not sure how it fits lol )
I am going to a auto jumble soon in bath and will atend stoneleigh to search for parts in person , i think to trying to look at the quality in chrome parts on the web is very worrying if you want a nice finish.
Paddocks do offer a 10% reduction due to the web not being active but i did notice i had to ask for it so dont be shy !
I am still stripping and my list is so big , i think i will aquire parts when i need them so spread the costs and in that time your research and understanding of the costs makes it so much easier.
                        Kind regards edd

I found the people at Paddocks great and the discount because of the web site being down made a big difference.

Another route worth trying is Quiller. Mainly second hand stuff from insurance write offs but they seem to be able to source some things that others just can't.

I should add, I have used E J Ward, Rimmers, Robsport, Paddocks, Hart Racing Services and they have all been excellent, but as others have said, the prices need to be compared.

I'll be going to Aldridges soon for some interior trim.
