    Stag soft top headache

Ok .. My mark I stag has been totally restored to a great but when the soft top is up and closed I get a wind noise coming in from from top front above the windscreen . I've played round with seals , even purchased a new one , but still I'm getting the wind noise , it's a tight fit to close roof at the front and push down to lock .. Have even thought of adding a thin rubber seal strip ...mi tested the problem by placing tape along joint then when driven noise went by over 70 per cent
    Anyone got any ideas. Stephen

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum ! If you have a new front seal, it's possible that there's a slight gap between the screen top and the polished fitting. The usual fix for this, is to remove it, and run a bead of DumDum along the leading edge, then clean off the remnants after tightening it down. Of course you may just be expecting the sealing of a modern top, in which case, you're on a loser. Cheers, Martin.

Hello Stephen when my soft top is up its fairly noisy inside i suppose i just live with it now and accept it as part of driving a stag.
If you cant live with it wear a hat and scarf and go top down get some of that sea air in your lungs, not that helpful i know but welcome to the forum anyway...Steve

A couple more ideas for you.

1.The cam plates (under the chrome trim on top of the windscreen) may be worn so they are not pulling the top down far enough to close the seal gap.
        2. The rubber seal is too hard.
        3. The front hood rail is too curved and does not seal in the middle section.
        Any use?

Ah, could that be a reason why my doors and hood don't seal very well. I've got to lift the doors because they stick in the frame but I wasn't convinced that would cure the problem entirely. Also, since I replaced the cams in the windscreen (the handles would vibrate loose), it has become a real nightmare to get the hood closed, especially on the nearside.
