    Fuel gauge & warning light

    Hi all

For no apparent reason my fuel gauge seemed to start showing completely empty and the warning light came on despite putting £30.00 of fuel in.
Thought I may have dislodged a wire while working in the boot or behind dash.
Removed dash today with no loose wires apparent.Did the same in the boot.Once again nothing apparent.

I have made a very rough drawing identifying what colour wires I have on which. I am sure they are in the correct place as the gauge did work with no fuel warning light.

Every time I drive the car I put fuel in to ensure I don't run out !!
Help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Dave Cole

Check first if your tank float on the sender is punctured if not as in my case the sender was a goner.

        Thanks once again.

Hi Dave, if the sender is shot, don't forget that Stoneleigh is coming up, there ARE bargains to be had, if you're not going, perhaps a mate, or someone on here ? Martin.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago, picked up a good sender at Stoneleigh for £2...

              Hi Dave,
I have a spare float at home. If it is that which is faulty you are welcome to mine. Can't help if it is the sender though.........

I should be home late tomorrow, so if you want it give me a ring on Thursday.
