    Chrome Problem "advise required"

Hi Guys I have a small rusty patch !, about 20mm long on the underside of my rear bumper quarter, see photo's.

As the bumper is not rotten i was going to lightly rub the area with fine wet and dry then paint it with fe-123 rust converter, then touch it in with smooth silver hammerite, then cover it with a small square of silver foil tape, thinks this should stop it lifting any more chrome?.

What do you boys think?001 (2).jpg003.jpg002.jpg

The bumper has already been painted on the in side,.

Don't know if that will work or not, but the cause is the bumper bracket inside the bumper.
    Happened to mine as well.

Hi Martin, you would be better off etching the rust off rather than abrading it. Try Bilt Hamber Deox Gel, it's thixotropic and bio-thingy. It'll take a few hours, and may take a couple of applications, but worth the effort. I haven't found a converter that works for any length of time yet and this can be a permanent solution - if you're patient Martin.

Martin, if you can locate a plastic tub that will hold the side member, you would be better off to soak it in Bilt Hamber Deox "C". Easy stuff to find online. Martin.
