Yes spookey !! needles don't seem as bad as they were, maybe it's the cold weather? .....and the grose jets are still in the box
Hi Folks How do grose jets differ from needle valves. I've replaced my needle valves once but still get occasional flooding. As yet I haven't come across grose jets
As a matter of interest after a run there is a strong smell of petrol for a few minutes it doesn't seem to be damp around the o rings at the bottom of the float chambers and I have got the petrol levels set if anything a little low .Also after the car's been left overnight it takes a long time to fill the float bowls which suggests that the float bowls are empty (where did the petrol go). on a run the car does 28 mpg which suggests that its not loosing petrol when running
Mine are still waiting to be fitted, I think the threat of them waiting in the wings makes the others behave themselves.
Ian.
I think you're right Ian little buggers ! Tony, they use a ball rather than a blunt needle and have a very good rep. Yours are almost certainly leaking to some extent, judging from what you say. Martin.
Graham - Are you back home now?, if so how was Australia and did you meet up with other Forum members there.
Hope your arm/wrist are O.K.
Maureen has had a few Hospital visits recently - "chordectomy" op in December - Acute Brochitus in January - and on Friday knocked herself out and is full of cuts and bruises from where she fell.
Just off to Airport to pick up son and one of his daughters who are out here for a few days.
When I had my carbs rebuilt by ‘stga157.7’ (great job and highly recommended) I asked Alan to replace the needle valves with grosse jets.
The rebuild was prompted due to the occasions leak from one of the cabs which I assumed was a needle valve sticking. After reading on this forum the good reports about grosse jets it seemed sensible to have them fitted during the rebuild, for peace of mind more than anything else.
I still need to have the carbs properly tuned and obviously nothing to do with the grosse jets but there is a noticeable difference between the before and after performance.

Tony
Hello Tony,
Perhaps you lose some petrol through the pipes which run from the front of the carbs to a T-piece and from there to the ground. This usually happens with sticking needle valves.
Didn't someone - was it Bruce (Rubce)? - have all sorts of problems with Moss about these jets?
Cheers
Julian
Hello Julian,
If I remember correctly the inventor of these valves, Mr. Grose, died and left this project without a real "inheritor". So other producers (in Far East?) obviously made copies which are not made to Mr. Grose's standards....
Hi Julian, I had some trouble with them, bought from someone else, one was for an SU, wrong thread, and the other was rusty. The ones from Moss are perfect. I'm sorry to say it Dieter but that sounds like a bit of rumour mongering ! Martin.

I fitted them half a year ago. And they performe perfectly. No more flooding. I bought them from Moss.
