Stag back mud flaps c/w logo

Gent's am considering fitting mud flaps to the Stag, which are supplied by J.P. and am wondering how they are secured.
Do they come with brackets that compress on the inner lip, or do you have to drill and make holes.
I have seen a few Stags up our way with these fitted but have never taken the time to have a close look at the way they are secured. I will not fit them if I have to drill into the wings

      morning Mike,
when I got mine from JP'S ,I didn't like the fixings , so I went onto e-bay and bought some clamps
      these are them

they only cost a few pounds to fit all four flaps without drilling

      hope this helps

      regards

        mud flaps

you can fit them without drilling, all you need is some mini "G clamp" type of fixing so try ebay or similar.did this with mine using some old clamps which I think came off an MFI furnite unit! so they don't have to be rocket science. only thing was I had to pierce the mud flaps and fit the clamps about 1cm in from their edge otherwise they stuck out too far like bat wings.A guy in my road has fitted a pair and they do stick out too far.by the way, the painted logo does come off if you wash it too often.

If you are worried about the painted logo fading you can always fit side badges to the mud flaps. There is one locally where the guy has done this and it looks OK. He had a spare pair of badges after fitting cruise lights.

What I did with mine was buy a couple of the stick on Triumph name badges that go on the rear bumper.

                  Guys,

If you fit mudflaps with metal clamps then you must use something between the clamp and the wheelarch to prevent paint damage and the inevitable rust that follows. Otherwise spray the clamp/wheelarch with underseal or regular treatment with Waxoil/Dynax-S50 or similar.

Alternatively look for some plastic mud flap clamps (can't see any on eBay right now) like Cannon use for their Universal mudflaps. http://www.cannoncarmats.com/Mudflaps-388-d.html
I have used these for years on both Stags and had no rust formed as a direct consequence of fitting them.

                  Dave.

I'm really not a fan of mud flaps - for the reasons that Phil has highlighted above. The mud and moisture gets trapped and it all goes rusty. One of hte first things I did was remove the mud flaps that were on mine when I bought it.

If you do buy them from JP ask them not to tape them together with parcel tape - it was a sod to get off. I had to use thinners to get it off and accidently took off some of the logo.
They are pretty poor quality - I wish I'd gone for the Cannon ones as mentioned above.
I used the G clamps too that I bought off eBay.

Like Dave, I have nver been a fan for a number of reasons. I tend to think if God had wanted my car to have mudflaps, He would have fitted then in the factory.

I'm a mud flap agnostic too. If you're worried about stone chips, then put some of that self-adhesive transparent stone-chip protector foil on the potentially affected areas. Best solution IMHO is to paint over stonechip coating on sill and rear valance and then just touch in any paint chips which might occur. It is highly unlikely that a stone would go through the stonechip coating.
