Hi everyone ! I am about a year off fitting my bumpers and after removing mine and a cold winter started looking at alternatives to my rather dull but generally good bumpers ! estimates of rechroming seem very close to stainless new ones so that seemed the direction i would follow !
Then a bumper came up on e bay , a recromed front bumper , i won the item and was generally pleassed with it with travel costs it cost me roughly £180, it has a couple of ripples not perfect but once on will look great with perfect corners and excellent overiders ! i then set about the rear , i noticed a deal regarding a "good nick with no rot in brackets no dents " i bid and i won , £60 , they arrived with a nice dent in lower section about the size of 20p with a point ! Corners were rusted on the back and both had been painted with red oxide on the bottom , (not show in the picture ) one braket im sure has been rewelded as its sits outside the bumper slightly !
Its now in resolution but it sadens me to think people sale items and dont tell the truth and show the real condition ! i,m on my second gear console all with flaws so far its cost me nothing but again why not advertise flaws at least people will know what they are buying !
The old excuse is well its 40 years old what do you expect , but if you advertise something as unmarked or no dents then thats what you expect !
Rant over lol
Main question is how much can be done with a saging rear brackets on the corner bumpers it causes the bracket to raise up or rot under again causing it to push out ! Is it pointless getting them rechromed if so how much has owners paid !
Is stainless the only sensible option regards chroming everything , number plate plinth etc !
Many thanks , Regards Edd
