    aaarrrggghhh !!!!

Just been for a glorious sunshine run - engine nice and warm, so I thought I'd drain the oil ready for some VR1 (my first time using it) - put my "old faithfull" drain container under plug - undid plug, immediately 5 litres of the hot dirty black stuff all over the garage floor !! - "old faithfull" has a small hole in its base - major clean up jobbie and suddenly loss of enthusiam to change oil - too much haste !!

regards from a very messy Ian

At least your garage floor is unlikely to rust away!

        I can beat that.

Changing the oil many years ago on a Rover 3500. Drained it all out, cleaned up, put in the new oil.

Then realised the sump drain plug was still on the bench.

At least it was clean oil.

I didn't say "AAARRGH" though. My saying had more "f" s in it................

That IS bad luck, but if honest I think we've all done something similar. Get a ginormous bag of cat litter, cheap and it works. Martin.

Thanks for comments and equal stories chaps - there is a very small "benefit" to whats happened: at least I don't have to take the old oil to a proper waste unit at the local tip now !!

But the worst thing is.........."old faithful" has passed on!

Bet we all have very old metal trays for changing oil - mine is at least 40 years old.

how about this many eons ago whilst serving my apprentiship I was in my third year

                  and told the new boy

to drain the oil from a mini we was working on and top her up

                  he did just that

topped it up, 5 bloody gallons from the oil pump
oil was coming out the rocker cover. filled up the inlet manifold..etc

                  govener was not too happy

see the funny side now though
