Soft top window zip

Disaster befell me today, having re fitted the soft top after nearly 20 years everything was going great, the mohair was in near perfect condition and the window was still quite clear, but when I slammed the rear part of the roof down the zip popped apart! has this happened to anybody else? And has anyone replace just the zip? I suppose whilst I am at it I should also try and fit a new window as I see they are available from Rimmers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes this happened to me a couple of years ago, I found a ykk zip in a haberdashery shop that was the same size removed the zipper cut into the base of the zip in the hood and put the new zipper on and stitched up the base with a darning needle all worked fine

Hi Paul, phone up South East trimming as they through them away as and when they remove someones old top. They sent me one for free, the original type and I got it to go on with a little bit of patience and alls OK
