    OH NO! What Now?

Yesterday I decided to take the finished project out of the workshop and give it a wash to get the workshop grime off it. I wanted to make a start on the polishing.

As the engine only had been run for short spells and had some drips, I decided to give it an extended idle with some K-Seal in it whilst I lathered away. It was also going to be the first full-time 'proper' test of the replacement heated elements in the rear window. That worked perfectly and I've relocated the switch. I'll post a separate update on that, later today.

When soaping the right side front wheel, I heard the most awful grinding, graunching noise. In disbelief, I whipped the bonnet up and looked at the engine, not knowing what I was looking for. I'd never heard the like of it befor, but the noise stopped and then came back again. I flew round to switch off and tried to figure out what had gone wrong. Then I heard it again. A bloody salmon boat had crept into the bay and was dropping anchor!

I have that problem every time I pull up behind a diesel at the traffic lights! Stag Paranoia indeed!

My mate ( farmer ) up the road pulled into the drive with his diesel last time home, just as I was giving the engine a good long tick over in the drive to ensure all was working well after minor refurb.
I just about crapped it as I though my engine was about to kick the bucket, I thought it sounded like a bag of nuts and bolts as I came out of the house after getting a cup of tea, until I saw his car parked out of view beside it

There's a section of tarmac near my house that provokes an awful noise. Evidently, it is tyre noise but somehow it just doesn't sound like that. It does it to all cars however still, when I'm in my Stag, I start to panic every time I hear the noise.

                  Paranoia or what ?

                  Cheers

                    Hi John,

The sun came out the other day, so here it is getting its first blink of daylight. Just the final polish to do, tune up, MOT and new soft top cover to fit.

She needs to be well run in in good time for the National Weekend, but that shouldn't be a problem!

So perhaps bump into you there - so to speak.

                    With best wishes,
                    Duncan

Nice one. When is the MOT booked in for? - is it finished, it certainly looks close.

                        Hi Dave,

MOT is booked for 12:00 on Monday the 26th of this month. Just hope the post office round the corner can do the Historic Vehicle class tax disc for me, otherwise its post the stuff off, or a 200 mile round trip to Inverness in the Mondeo. But I'm sure I'll have to need something from Halfords by then..

Just the carburation to sort, polish up, fabric soft top to fit and she's there! And the best bit - after the carbs are sorted - she'll be usable!

Or in the words of Stanley Unwin - Deep Joy!

                        With best wishes,
                        Duncan
