Stuck soft top central pin wont release

Seeing as the sun was out today i decided to go for a little run with the roof off! Well, i thought i would anyway!

When i pulled the hood release catch i heard the click, but the central pin was still firmly secured on the hood frame. After a few more attempts i noticed that the release lever is actually un-locking the drivers side of the tonnaeu cover, not the central pin. If i close the tonnaeu cover and pull again the same thing happens, the tonnaeu is released, not the central pin.

As i was playing with the hood frame fit last weekend i am hoping that a bit of a wiggle here and there might free it up.

Any suggestions? I will have another go at the weekend when i have more time - hopefully there is another solution, i remember hearing about someone that lost their bonnet relase and had to make a hole in the bonnet to get in

If the cable has snapped or slipped you can wrench the seat back out by removing the seat base first then firmly pulling the seat back from the bottom, this will bend the tabs and you should be able to reach up and release the catch manually.

You can then unbolt the seat back, bend the tabs back into place and re-fit, good luck and be careful!

Hi I had the same problem when I bought my Stag recently.

Option 1 you may be able to get a screwdriver into the hole to genley lever the prong to one side:?

Option 2 From the inside of the car you should be able to see where the prong is attached to the soft top with two bolts. I managed to get a spanner on them and undo them (it is very slow)

The release lever does the torneau & the soft top. There are two separate cables but I think if one is snapped or too stretched you have to buy the pair. I bought mine from Paddocks , who incidently were out of stock and they had one shipped directly from Rimmers

      Good Luck

Not wishing to be simplistic, but this happens every so often on mine and it's just the pin sticking in the catch.

When it does, I just release the front catch leversbut not pull the hood back as it would cattle the frame and try releasing again - that normally works butif it doesn't thump the back rail using your hand with the front catches released and the tonneau lever pulled...........
