    cannot unlock door

I cannot unlock or openmy door!

It has been playing up - was very difficult to lock or unlock - lever inside did not work at all and key would only turn a bit, needed a lot of fiddling - so had just been leaving it unlocked in the garage. Now it has some how managed to lock itself so I cannot open the door. Have not got the trim off yet as it looks like a fun job with the door shut! The internal locking handle just feels like it is bending the rod. Worried that if it is the lock its self, you have to have the door open to get it off!??

Any ideas what I should be looking for when I get the trim off?

Must be a day for stuff jamming shut by the look of the forum!!

    Hi

You can get the trim off from inside, but awkward. The problem will be the catch end and there are several levers that push and pull and they are just out of line enough to jam. When you havethe trim off try and look atwhat the rod is trying to do first before removing any parts. Youshould thenbe able to bend back or grease any moving part and test easily

    Good luck

I've now got same problem as Giles - driver's door locked shut and nothing moving, though key turns in barrel.

Not looking forward to getting the trim off with the door shut so wondered how Giles found it?

Removing the trim with the door shut is straight forward I think. Un screw the cover for the internal door handle, unclip the doorcard at the side and bottom, pull the internal door handle into the open position and the doorcard should slide off in an upwards direction. You will need to reach undeneath to disconnect four wires.

        Good luck

it was a while ago now - but yes for memory the trim came off ok, part of the mechanism inside the door had fallen apart, with the trim off easy enough to open the door and sort it out

good luck - should be ok

I had this problem with my little Honda CRX, if you get a can of WD 40 with the long nozzle you can poke it inside the window and spray liberally towards the lock area. It worked for me.
