    new MOT rules

Hi can anyone tell me if when you flash your headlights does the blue light also flash on the dash, it comes on when i turn full beam on. The reason for asking is the new MOT rules. If this should flash blue like it does on my 69 cortina can anyone tell me what the problem may be,
    Many thanks
    Trevor

On my cars it comes on as you flash the headlights.
It should come on when high beam is activated in the normal manner, and the MOT tester will look for this!
Dont think they test that it works with the flash though?

I would have thought that as long as it shows you are on full beam it would be OK, don't see that it would fail when you flash the lights., although mine lights.

I was at my local mot station last week, I asked about the new rules, and how it would affect me, he said don't worry about it, as long as the steering lock works.

i asked in a MOT station i use regularily through work today. He said as long as the blue light is on when the main beam is on he would pass it and not check if it came on when only flashing or be worried if it didnt, steve

Hi Trevor, I don't believe headlamp flashing is testable, some cars flash on dipped beam anyway, I really wouldn't worry. Martin.

I think my MOT is soon so this thread is good for me, as it were (I can get full beam but not flash f/b - I raised it on another thread but involving MOT stuff is also a worry for me)

                      This.

As long as the beams work when the stalk is pushed forward (towards the engine) with the main beam light illuminated you will be fine .
