    Alloy wheels

    Dear All

Can anyone recommend any good companies in Yorkshire to get alloy wheels refurbished?
My Stag alloys need doing, and a company in Barnsley which was recommened to me, seem to have gone bust.

    Thanks

Is delivery a problem or does it have to be local?

I've just been through the process, not in the UK though, when I added up what I spent and the results which weren't quite like new- I think I'd spend the small extra outlay on buying new wheels. If you do some of the work yourself - like masking and painting the cost difference is probably worthwhile.

I just did my own wheels check them out on my album page. To have them finished over here would have been $50 a rim so $200 plus tax for the lot I spent $40 on paint and primer it takes a bit of time and elbow grease but i saved a bit towards the tires or tyres as you say. If thats all i had to do then i would have had them refinished but I wanted to save some money.

          cheers Stuart

I had the same feeling regarding finish but the cost difference was enough to justify a gamble on my original alloys. Only possible downside buy new I thought at the time is how balanced are the new alloys and how long will the paint finish last? One of my original alloys has the stud pattern simply off centre so it's physically not possible to balance it which I only had confirmed once the alloy had been refurbed - that's my spare in the boot and a lesson learnt to get the all the alloys balanced before considering spending money on them. On the flip side at least what I have is a known quantity now and in many cases easier to deal with. I've bought plenty of 'less then perfect' new parts for the Stag that just beggar belief how they reach consumer hands.
            In contrast:
My alloys cost £65 inc VAT each for full refurb (included both sides of the rim unlike some, diamond cut, painted). A new alloy seems to be around £110 mark.

                Hi ChasR

Having some work done by a friend in Wakefield in Summer, and thought whilst car's there, take the wheels off and get them done somewhere local to that area.
Have looked at EJ Wards and per wheel is about £70, plus cost of shipping my old ones down there, and then posting refurbished ones back up here.

Very good, they did my Elise wheels, all for less than £200...they only deal in cash sales...typical Barnsley!
...not sure they can handle the polished rim though of the Stag.

Quiller Triumph did my Stag rims a few years, came back as new, they powder coated the whole wheel and I mean the whole wheel, then machined the front face. I think that was around £200 for 4, but it was 10 years ago thinking about it!
                  Cheers
