    wiring loom to the head lights

    my 72 mk1wiring loom to the head lights runs in the engine bay is this right ?

    I don't think you are wrong, the fixing holes for the loom staples certainly indicate a proposed route, maybe its a MK1 thing. My Mk2's loom runs through the side wall opening adjacent to the fuse box over the wheel arch to the chamber to the rear of the headlights. My loom was not long enough to follow the engine bay route, I tried.

      mk2 wiring for the headlights run across the front valance,throught the passengers inner wing,then into the car,i would think mk1 would be the same

        HI StagJag,

        You are correct, the Mk1 wiring runs in the engine bay along the chassis rail/inner wing. This picture is from my old Dec '71 built Mk1:
