Yep,from today that's the name for my stag and those of you who've seen the film will know what I mean! plan was to fit new set of magnecor leads then quick blast out for a test in the sunshine but oh no,the vicious cow decided not to play today fitted the new leads and it wouldn't start even though everything was perfect yesterday after the first start up from winter slumber. so refitted the old leads and checked for correct firing sequence etc etc. and still wouldn't bloody start by now I was just a tad unhappy. checked for spark and fuel and everything looked fine,engine trying to fire but clouds of exhaust smoke and no fire up, the neighbours were impressed finally got running after taking off the air filter and carb elbows and tipping a little fuel into the carbs !! so fuel starvation was the problem.cant understand this as fired up a treat yesterday and pump is new and fuel filter is half full ( yes I bypassed the fuel cut off switch too) so end of rant and back to thinking what the next little surprise will be

well started her up again tonight ready for the trip to the garage tomorrow and she really,really didn't want to start up,this is most unusual as its always been a good starter.managed to get it running and let it settle after many attempts and once warmed up it ticks over and runs fine.the odd thing is it started ok on saturday after the winter sleep but really not right now at all, any suggestions as to why its crap to start but once started and warm it seems fine?

how fresh is the petrol?
is the fuel pump ok?
fuel cut off not playing up?

Did you do anything to/disturb the ballast resistor wire to the coil, when changing the plug leads?

fuel is fresh tesco finest, new fuel pump last year and bypassed the fuel cut off.cant see i disturbed anything but its possible so another look i think !

well rear suspension all done,new magnecor leads fitted and booked in for MOT next saturday.starting problem appears to have sorted itself so looks like it was the effects of standing over winter and come to think of it I had similar experience last year on start up or just after so note to self for next winter START THE OLD COW UP and get it glowing at least once a fortnight

love to use it all year round but too mean to pay the road theft for the extra 6 months and a coupla hundred miles,so winter is jobs time for me
