Not Stag related - AVI's and MPEG's to DVD

Hi Guys, sorry its not Stag related.

I used to use Neo from Mediostream to convert AVI and MPEG films to a format that I can play on the DVD player in the other room and elsewhere.

    I have windows 7

Any suggestions as to what I use to convert the format to DVD? Ideally a freebie that works well as i bought the last one being Neo, which was good but doesn't work on my PC now.

    Much appreciated

This one does most things Andrew. Not sure if it does what you want as not tried that particualr aspect.

Download and Convert YT videos with Free YouTube Download and Free YouTube to MP3 Converter in any format. Easy to use apps for PC and Mac.

I recently downloaded AVS video editor when I couldnt find anything to edit m2ts (high def) on a new didgital camera. This seems to cope with any video and picture input file types, allows you to combine them and then outputs to Video CD's, DVD or Blue ray (if I had a blue ray DVD).
Its about 50 USD to download online, but I filled out the online order then cancelled the order. Next day I had a email with a 30% discount to download. www.AVS4you.com

I tried a few freebies first and they tend to limit the features just enough to stop them being useful or put a test banner across the created edit.

Thanks MB and Ian. When the software converter shows DVD as an option, does this mean it will be playable in any DVD player to be able to be viewed on the TV?. I used to convert my AVI's or MPEG's to MPEG2 and then use the software to convert to a DVD playable format using the NEO software. It worked well. Now I have bought a new PC and have windows 7, it won’t work and before buying anything else, thought I would ask around. I don’t mind paying for software as long as it works and the audio and footage tracks stay synchronised .

        Thanks for your advice

How about Windows DVD Maker?? My Windows 7 (Professional 32 bit) came with it. You just select the AVI file and it gets on with - converts and burns all in one go.

When it comes to creating the DVD AVS gives lots of options for format :- PAL, NTSCC, high, low quality, long play, 4:3, widescreen etc

You can create menus, chapters, add a cover picture music etc to make a proper DVD.

Have played created DVD on various players, TV etc with no problems.

You can download the kit to trial, you cant actually do that much untill you pay for the license to enable it all.

Hi Roger, I got round to using this and its very slick. Trouble is there is no audio track with it after the process has finished and looking on the web, it appears to be a Windows 7 problem. One website forum suggested using a converter to convert the file to a VOB extension. Did this and the realised that Windows DVD maker cant convert this format.

                Almost there
                Thanks, Andrew
