Hi, guys I seem to have some stampings on my offside bank by the water pump, on the block, (head gasket face) see photo, what are they for or signify? 006.jpg

Triumph fitted two different sizes of standard piston, grade F and grade G, G being half of one thousands of an inch bigger than F. After the blocks were honed the sizes were measured and stamped for each bore so that the correct size piston could be fitted

Thanks Neil, that would explain this then, but what does H75 Mean? 007.jpg

Don't want to worry you, but all Ford Escort Mk2 part numbers start with H75 !!
Seriously though:
Like Neil says, they are the cylinder grades. Mine has 4 x 'G' stamped in the same position. Original pistons also had an F or G stamp as well as a number like your H75. My new old stock pistons have A78. 75 and 78 sound awfully like years, so perhaps just a date stamp and A or H etc. for the foundry or mould which was used.
